OSX: Blogging Widgets

Posted by cascadehush on September 24, 2006

I am disappointed to report that the 2 blogging widgets I have tried don’t support tags properly with wordpress.com.

WordPressDash lists them okay and you can select multiple tags but they don’t actually show up on the blog.

RapidMetaBlog only allows you to choose one tag, which completely misses the point.

Nevertheless some may find them useful. Other than the tag issue they seem to work fine.

This is my first proper post in ecto and I must say, it looks like love at first sight.

  1. I initially built RapidMetaBlog specifically for blojsom, which only supports one category per posting.

Now that I’ve moved my blog from blojsom to wordpress, I may do a redesign of the widget to support multiple tags, but to be honest, I’m not that convinced that a widget is a particularly useful way of doing blog posts. 🙂

The source is available for anyone who wants to take it and run with it though.

  2. That explains it then. Thanks. So then it was blojsom which missed the point, not you.

I think I agree with you about a widget not being so useful for blog posts. At the time I was looking for a quick way to post quick ideas onto the blog, but now I want to include a lot more links in my posts, and that would be a bit cumbersome with a widget.

    Thanks for replying.
